Paul Melvin Gunneson, 63, Waltham, Minnesota, passed away on Oct. 17, 2017, in Austin, Minnesota.
Paul was born on Sept. 1, 1954, the son of Dalen and Elsie (Geyer) Gunneson in Austin. He attended school in Stewartville and Hayfield High School. He attended Rochester Vo-Tech in auto mechanics. Paul married Stormy Naylor on May 23, 1975, in Hayfield. He was a truck driver for Commercial Services for Hormel in Austin but was a farmer to his core. Paul farmed the Gunneson family farm for his entire life, learning the tricks of the trade from his father and other family members. Paul was a fun-loving man with a kind and generous heart who always saw the good in everyone. Paul enjoyed restoring classic cars, attending races and was a member of a car club. But, above all, Paul loved his family. He reveled in their company; he enjoyed playing games, going on car cruises, and having long conversations over a hot cup of coffee and chocolate chip cookies.
Paul is survived by his wife, Stormy Gunneson, Waltham; two daughters, Jessica (David) Schnepple, Nairobi, Kenya, and Lindsay Cordle, Waltham; five grandchildren, Tye Pelot, Simon Schnepple, Oliver Schnepple, Savanna Cordle, and Tucker Cordle; and one sister, Beverly (Roger) Powers, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at the first Baptist Church, 206 East Main St. in Brownsdale, Minnesota with Pastor Ken Petzold officiating. Interment will be in the Waltham Township Cemetery.
