Rodney E. Mauer, 67

Rodney E. Mauer, 67, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at his home.
Rod was born June 2, 1950, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Leon and Marcella (Dockham) Mauer. He grew up on a farm outside of Austin, graduated from Austin High School and attended Austin Vo-Tech. He was united in marriage to Marianne on July 26, 1985, at the Associated Church and they made their home in Owatonna. Rod worked retail in Archery and Fishing for many years; including his Rack and Fin Store in Medford.
Rod enjoyed hunting, fishing and sharing archery skills with youth. He held multiple board positions for the 20 Rifle and Pistol Club that he was active in for over 30 years. Rod was a great conversationalist and shared many stories with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Mauer of Owatonna; daughters, Heather Walkingstick of Owatonna, Michelle (Ron) Mead of Ellendale, Minnesota, and Tina Lau of Austin; son, Corey Mauer of Austin; grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Fraser, Stephanie (Mike) Larson, Brittney Mead, Kody, Hailey, and Brooklyn Lau; great grandsons, Cole Fraser, Matthew Larson, and Tevari McRelly; brother, Doug (Jodi) Mauer of Austin; sister, Lu (Helmut) Gust of Janesville; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. John Sauer officiating.
Private interment will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
