Southland grad inducted into Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame

Rick Burke, a a 1988 Southland grad1992 Luther College grad, was inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in football, basketball and track and field Oct. 7.

On the gridiron, Burke was an all-conference tight end who made 43 receptions for 548 yards and eight touchdowns. He scored 1,069 points on the basketball court and grabbed 717 rebounds that still ranks eighth all-time.

In track and field, he was a two-time NCAA III All-American in the high jump, placing 5th at the national meet as a junior and senior. Burke is still the only Luther high jumper to clear seven feet.  Following his career at Luther, he played for the Connecticut Coyotes Arena Football Team, Hartford, Connecticut 1995-96.

Head Track and Field Coach Jeff Wettach inducted Burke into the Hall of Fame.

Burke and his wife Miki reside in Honolulu, Hawaii. Burke is the owner and president of Master Pilates in Honolulu.
