Weather delays 11th Drive bridge; Project expected to conclude Oct. 16

Inclement weather has delayed completion of the 11th Drive Northeast bridge, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation District 6 Community Relations Coordinator Mike Dougherty.

The original completion date of Oct. 2 has been delayed until Oct. 16.

“Weather delays are built into the contract,” Dougherty said. “When we set the date, it is an estimate of working days and potential rain out days.”

Dougherty said the Oct. 16 projection depends on weather and a news release will be issued as work nears completion. He also said work is nearing completion on Highway 56, which is also scheduled to be completed in mid-October.

Weather has also been responsible for delays on city street projects, some of which have been postponed until next year.

“The tough thing with construction is there are no guarantees,” Dougherty said.
