Austin High School students Sydney Marsh and Mitchell Mayer are September’s Rotary Students of the Month.
Marsh is the vice president of the Student Council at AHS in addition to being an active member of National Honor Society, DECA, and Youth Leadership. She also participates in soccer, gymnastics, and track. A “Spotlight on Scholarship” award winner, one of the highlights of her education experience has been “the relationships [she has] developed with many of [her] teachers over the years.”
Her future plans include attending a four-year university for pre-med to eventually become an orthopedic surgeon.
Mayer participates in numerous activities at AHS, including NHS, DECA, Student Council, cross country, swimming, and track. He has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout high school, and has been “blessed to have great classmates and instructors” along the way. His future plans include attending a four-year university to study engineering.
Each month the Austin Rotary, in conjunction with Austin Public Schools, selects two students who excel in academics, leadership, and/or activities.
