Collective wisdom: The gathering of different ideas and experiences for the greater good. That is the focus of the local, no cost workplace well-being strategy: Refreshed Lunch & Learns.
Six times each year professionals gather over lunch to engage on a topic relevant to the workforce. This fall the lunches focused on chemical use from various angles: chemical use challenges teens face, the brain and addictive behaviors, and mindfulness as a strategy to deal with addiction.
Thank you to Mayo Clinic Health System for sponsoring the fall series of lunch and learns. This community engagement effort is a practical way to connect local professionals to education and networking on well-being.
At each lunch more than 30 professionals from a wide variety of professions had access to an expert on the topic, not only to learn but to share best practices and insights on how local organizations are intentionally addressing the focused topic. It’s this collective wisdom that will strengthen area workplaces in creating environments where employees can thrive not only when at work but in their personal lives as well.
The coming year once again brings topics impacting our communities, specifically those impacting the workplace and area employment.
• Wednesday, Jan. 17 — Jason Baskin and Jessica Swanson will be joining us to explore diversity in the workplace, why it is valuable to every employer, how it can directly strengthen an organization’s workforce, and what is currently happening in Austin area to connect and celebrate our growing diversity.
• Feb. 21 and March 21, 2018, round out the spring series and are sponsored by Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services (FMCS). A gracious thank you to FMCS for supporting workplace well-being and to Riverland Community College for providing space!
Need continuing education credits? We work hard to offer CEUs for those attending to support professional learning and connect participants with local experts and resources. Consider attending or sending a team member from your organization to engage in creating more healthy and resilient workplaces in the Austin area.
