Richard H. Tracy, 72, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
Richard Herbert was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Austin to Raymond and Mildred (Janning) Tracy. He grew up in Austin, and attended Austin Public Schools. Dick went to work for Hormel Foods at a young age. On Sept. 26, 1970, he was united in marriage to Kristi Kae Boettcher at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. They raised their family in Austin, and Dick continued his career with Hormel until he retired due to health reasons. He loved playing baseball growing up, enjoyed following the Twins and Vikings all his life, and was a big fan of John Wayne. Dick was known as a very generous person, loved to make people laugh, and always put others first.
Dick is survived by his wife, Kristi; children, Gina Tracy, Nick (Dawn) Tracy, and John Tracy, all of Austin; grandchildren, Harper and Raymond; siblings, Vern (Barb) Tracy of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Terry Tracy of Rose Creek, Karen Tracy of Austin, Lois Hellen of Minneapolis, and Joanne Mauer of Stacyville, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Chapel in Austin with Chaplain Dustin Steinbrink officiating. The Tracy family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. on Friday prior to services at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Austin at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
