Get those warm socks out: The brief return to 30-degree temps will soon be over.
According to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wis., Thursday will bring snow, wind and single digit temperatures.
Snow will begin to fall in the morning and is expected to transition to snow showers in the afternoon; 1 to 3 inches are expected.
Winds could also whip up the white stuff, and are forecast to be in the 20-30 mph range, gusting to as high as 40 mph at times.
Temperatures will plunge again, too. From a high in the morning of 19 degrees, temps will fall to single digits by nightfall. The low is expected to be minus 8 degrees Thursday night.
The area will remain in the deep freeze until early next week. The coldest day is expected to be Saturday, when the highs will stay below zero at minus 3 degrees, falling to minus 16 degrees overnight.
Take heart, however —temperatures will warm into the 30s late next week.
