Jake Allen Hastings, age 25, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away from an ongoing medical condition. He died on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at the family home.

Jake was born on Oct. 26, 1992, to Gary Hastings and Renae (Norris) Hegna. Jake was raised in Austin and graduated from Austin High School.

Almost from the time he was born, Jake loved vehicles and tools. Trucks, cars, semis, motorcycles-anything with wheels. He loved driving ‘em; mudden’in’em; racing’em; crashing’em; tearing’em apart; wrenchin’on;em; putting’em back together and scrappin’em! “Nothin’ newer than a ’90!” “They don’t build ‘em like they used to.”

Jake had a big heart and a great sense of humor. A genuine character. “The one and only”— Jake Bear. Time with us was way too short and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his mom and step-dad, Renae and Tracy Hegna; his dad, Gary Hastings; brother, Casey (Brianna Brooks) Hastings; his grandmas, Beverly Tremblay and Ruth Zwadski; uncles, Ricky, Ralph and Russell Norris, and Roger (Mary) Norris; Larry Hastings, Bruce (Donella) Hastings, and Jim (Char) Hastings; Warren (Jeanette) Hegna; aunts, Pam (Ron) Marsolek and Sheila (Willie King) Hastings; several cousins and extended family; Lifelong friends, Brooke, Brittany, and Ben Lerum, and Robin Breeze.

Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents, F. Duane “Slim” and Dorine Norris, Bruce Hastings Sr., Danny Hegna; uncle, David Hastings, and cousin, Jeremy Hastings.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date, next to his grandma and papa Slim Norris.
