LaVonne M. Cochran, 80, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
LaVonne was born on Dec. 5, 1937, in Austin, Minnesota, to Ole and Cora (Lostegaard) Benson and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. She married Myron Cochran on Sept. 9, 1956, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. They later divorced. LaVonne worked at Younkers and later was the dietitian at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She was a lifelong member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Cora; and sister, Shirley.
LaVonne is survived by her son, Mark Cochran, Hayfield, Minnesota; daughter, Jody (Dean) Schrom, Owatonna, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christy (Scott) Rogne, Austin, Stephanie (Tyrel) Kennedy, Byron, Minnesota, Ryan (Brianna) Schrom, Claremont, Minnesota, Katie (Chris) Emerson, Maple Grove, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Rachel) Cochran, Twig, Minnesota, and Kelsey Jensen, Owatonna; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlys (Bob) Gable, Placentia, California, and Carol (Marlin) Liljerdahl, Northwood, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Lindsay Stolen officiating. Interment will be at Red Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and on Friday for one hour before the service.
Memorials are preferred to Toys for Tots.
