Woman awaiting trial gets new drug charges

Jacqueline Marie Mjoen, 34, of Austin was charged on Tuesday in Mower County District Court with felony third-degree drug sales, felony fifth-degree drug possession, gross misdemeanor third-degree driving under the influence of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of over 1.4 grams of marijuana in a motor vehicle and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the court complaint, an officer observed Mjoen’s vehicle at 12:52 a.m. on Monday stopped on Second Avenue Southwest at the intersection with 11th Street Southwest even though there was no stop sign. Mjoen then saw the squad car and allegedly accelerated through the intersection. The officer followed her and she pulled over.
Mjoen’s eyes were allegedly bloodshot and glossy, her pupils were minimally responsive to light and she allegedly failed sobriety tests.
Mjoen was arrested and officers allegedly found 8.62 grams of methamphetamine divided into four plastic bags and 1.8 grams of marijuana in her purse. They also allegedly found a marijuana pipe and a methamphetamine pipe in the center console.
Mjoen’s is awaiting a pre-trial on March 23 for felony fifth-degree drug possession. She will appear in court again on Feb. 5.
