Douglas R. Ruble, 69

Douglas R. Ruble, 69, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Mayo Health System in Austin.

Douglas Rayburn was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Austin to Myles and Dorothy (Pogreba) Ruble. He graduated from Pacelli High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to attend Austin Community College, where he studied wildlife management. On July 25, 1969, Doug was united in marriage to Peggy Lee Meres at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. To this union three children were born. The couple was later divorced. Doug lived his entire life in Austin, and over the years he was employed with various area businesses, including Austin Iron Works, Jacobson Drainage, Akkerman, Inc., K & K Fabrication and Loverink Drainage. For the last 20 years of his career, he owned and operated Ruble Excavating. Doug was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He was a longtime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Doug is survived by his three children, Bob Ruble of Austin, James Ruble of Austin, and Kelly (Jeff) Connelly of Lansing, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Katlyn Ruble of Austin, Alex Ruble of Austin, and Brandon Ruble of Rochester, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Benzley, Easton and Ronan; his father, Myles Ruble of Austin; sisters, Joan Parody of Orlando, Florida, Deanna Weis of Austin, and Mary (Mike) Flaherty of Austin; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Ruble; and brother-in-law, Dan Weis.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. The Ruble family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
