According to the court complaint, Koecher’s ex-girlfriend contacted police on Sunday about bringing some of Koecher’s belongings to the Mower County Law Enforcement Center for him to pick up because she did not want him at her residence. When she arrived, she informed an officer that Koecher had allegedly been sending her harassing text messages, including threats to kill her, since she took her car back from him while he was at work on Feb. 9. She also said he called “over 100 times” in two days. The officer photographed the messages and the call log on her phone.

The woman met with an officer and Koecher’s probation officer on Tuesday at the LEC, according to the complaint. She told them about the text messages and said they allegedly increased since she had previously reported it, despite her telling Koecher to stop. The officer photographed her phone and her probation officer said she wanted Koecher arrested for allegedly violating his probation. During the meeting, Koecher called his ex-girlfriend and told her he was at the Rodeway Inn. He was later arrested.
