Men get prison for drug charges

A pair of Austin men have received prison sentences on charges of drug sales and possession.
Corey Lee Stigney received over 30 months for felony drug sales while Matthew Carl Maxim Koch was handed over 40 months for felony drug possession.

Corey Lee Stigney, 37, of Austin was sentenced on Thursday to 36 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for felony second-degree drug sales of three grams or more of methamphetamine-subsequent offense. He received credit for 258 days served.
Judge Kevin Siefken issued the sentence.
Charges of first-degree felony drug sales of 10 grams or more of methamphetamine-subsequent offense, two counts of felony third-degree drug sales of a narcotic-subsequent offense and two additional charges of felony second-degree drug sales of three grams or more of methamphetamine-subsequent offense were dropped at the sentencing.
Stigney was arrested in April 2014 after selling methamphetamine to a police informant on five occasions.
On each occasion, the informant was provided with buy money and an audio transmitter. The informant then met police at a predetermined spot and surrendered the drugs.
A review of Stigney’s criminal history shows prior convictions for obstruction of justice, drug possession, domestic assault and possession of stolen property.
Matthew Carl Maxim Koch
Matthew Carl Maxim Koch, 25, of Austin was sentenced to 46 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for felony third-degree possession of 10 grams or more of a narcotic drug other than heroin. He received credit for 99 days served.
Judge Christa M. Daily issued the sentence.
A charge of felony violent felon in possession of a stun gun was dropped at the sentencing.
Koch was arrested on Nov. 16 after police executed a search warrant on his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. A police canine alerted on locations inside the vehicle.
An officer found a methamphetamine pipe between the driver’s seat and approximately 38.27 grams of methamphetamine in a back seat cup holder.
A review of Koch’s criminal history shows prior convictions for domestic assault by strangulation, giving a peace officer a false name, fleeing a peace officer, identity theft, check forgery, disorderly conduct, theft, drug possession and attempted manufacture of methamphetamine.
