Pacelli, Lyle celebrate Flurry Week

Students of Pacelli and Lyle high schools enjoyed their own version of “Punxsutawney Phil” last week with Flurry Week, a way of encouraging the winter flurries to fly away and to celebrate the nearing end of winter.
Lyle students joined Pacelli in Austin for a few games of dodgeball and a pizza luncheon on Friday, concluding with a pep fest. The fun included the making of paper airplanes (blindfolded), Saran wrap relay races, to name just a few events. Students competed as grades rather than schools.
The winner was the class of 2018, of course, who took a strong lead and finished on top.
Highlighting the week was the Saturday coronation of the Flurry Kings and Queens. They are crowned Kings Corey Weber from Lyle and Trace Fishbaugher of Pacelli; and Queens Miranda Arkells of Lyle and Abigail Bollingberg of Pacelli.
Other candidates were Ethen Heard, Kobe Schafer, Bryce Strouf, Mia Bauer, Annalisa Kollar, and Breanna Smith from Lyle; and David Contreras, Mach Diang, Freddy Pulgarin, Oliva Culbert, Abby Nelson, and Evelyn Serrano from Pacelli.
A Flurry Week dance followed in All Saints Arena.
