Upcoming audit, Bruins contract on council agenda

The Austin City Council will be accepting an audit engagement letter from CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP, the firm that performs the city’s annual audit, during its next regular meeting on Monday.

The letter includes a proposed quote of $45,275 to conduct the audit for the 2017 fiscal year, a 1.74 percent increase from last year’s quote of $44,600.

The council will also receive bids from Automatic Systems Co. and Quality Flow Systems, Inc. for the installation of new lift system telemetry, which will provide communication between 21 sanitary system lift stations throughout the community and the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The system will monitor power outages and high float alarms and relay information to the plant staff to be analyzed so proper steps can be taken to correct the problem. Automatic Systems Co. and Quality Flow Systems, Inc. submitted bids of $157,600 and $164,000, respectively.

The council will also appoint Jennifer Braaten to the Human Rights Commission.

Austin Parks and Recreation Director Kim Underwood will discuss a new contract for the Austin Bruins during the council’s work session. The contract, which runs through the 2021 playing season, includes a rent increase from $6,047 with a three percent, two percent, and two percent increase over the next three years for their seven months per year payments.

Austin Utilities Director Mark Nibaur will also discuss a critical water usage ordinance and Public Works Director Steven Lang will present stop sign requests at 18th Drive and First Avenue Southeast, 19th Street and Second Avenue Northwest, and the Second Avenue and 14th Street Northwest Service Road.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the City Council Chambers, located in the basement of City Hall. The work session will be held in the conference room across the hall immediately after the meeting.
