Blooming Prairie death ruled a homicide; Deceased’s wife a ‘person of interest’

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified David Riess, 54, of Blooming Prairie, as the victim of a homicide that occurred on Friday, March 23.
Prior to the announcement, Riess’ death was ruled “suspicious.” Riess died from multiple gunshot wounds.
His wife, Lois Ann Riess, 56, is being sought by law enforcement as a person of interest in the murder.
She is 5’5”, 165 pounds with brown eyes and light blonde hair. She is likely driving a white 2005 Cadillac Escalade with Minnesota license plate 864LAE. She is known to frequent casinos.
Riess and his wife resided at 75859 US Highway 218 in Blooming Prairie.
Investigators believe Lois Ann Riess is armed and urge the public to call 911 with information on her whereabouts, but do not approach her.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
