The River Rats Car Club of Austin has been busy in its work for veterans.
With the donations and proceeds from the 2017 car show, the club was able to purchase 16 pavers, costing $4,800, for past and present veterans. The pavers will be placed at the Veterans Memorial in downtown Austin on or before the Memorial Day services.
The car club was also able to donate $250 to The Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, toward a Quilt of Valor. The quilt will be mounted in the Administration building at the cemetery.
One other donation of $500 was made to the Lyle Cancer Telethon. Gary Harrison, River Rats member and Lyle mayor, presented the check at the telethon.
If you have any questions, or know of anyone in need of a Veteran Paver or would like to become a member of the River Rats Car Club, please call John DeVries at 507-438-6635.
