Gilo gets 60 months in prison

Gumdel Nygare Gilo, 20, of austin was sentenced to 60 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for felony violent felon in possession of a firearm on Friday in Mower County District Court. He received credit for 200 days served.
Charges of felony fifth-degree drug possession, gross misdemeanor carry a pistol without a permit, misdemeanor possession of over 1.4 grams of marijuana in a motor vehicle, misdemeanor underage drinking and petty misdemeanor speeding were dismissed at the sentencing as part of a plea agreement on Aug. 31.
He was also sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for felony fifth-degree drug sales of marijuana. This sentence is to be served concurrently with the other. He received credit for 71 days served.
Judge Christa M. Daily issued the sentences.
Gilo was arrested on April 26, 2016, during a traffic stop after an officer found a 9mm pistol in a compartment near the gearshift and the center console.
On March 8, 2017, while on pretrial release, Gilo was arrested again after police found messages on a cell phone seized during a search warrant indicating Gilo was selling drugs out of a residence in the 400 block of Sixth Street Southwest.
Officers executed a search warrant on the residence and found 4.37 grams of marijuana and $1,263 in cash.
