Pick up applications for summer employment

Summer is just around the corner.
It is time to fill out those summer employment applications. You can find the city seasonal application on the city website, print it off, fill it out and drop it off or stop in and pick an application up.
We are looking for lifeguards, inside workers, summer recreation coaches, concession workers, maintenance workers and flower waterers. This year we are also in need of pool management staff. If you are interested please give us a call at 1-507-433-1881.
Those interested in becoming a lifeguard can sign up for class at the YMCA, www.ymca-austin.org , click on Y-programs, Aquatics, lifeguard and CPR training for information. Class is scheduled for March 23-25, must register by March 15. You must be 16 or older.
Figure skating
The Riverside Figure Skating Club show will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at Riverside Arena. This marks their 44th annual ice show.This year’s theme is “Welcome to the Tasty Freeze.” Tickets will be $10.
Youth wrestling
Youth wrestlers have an opportunity to qualify for the NYWA District Tournament in Austin on Friday, March 16.
Wrestling will be at Austin High School’s Packer Gym with weigh-ins from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for all grades kindergarden through eight-grade. Wrestling will begin at approximately 6 p.m. and the cost is $15. Walk-ins will be accepted until 5:30 p.m. Adult admission is $5 and students are free. Wrestlers must have their NYWA membership. Home show
The Power 96 Home and Vacation Show will be held at Packer Arena with 3-8 p.m. March 16, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 18. Stop in and check it out.
Hockey
It is time to get signed up for the 3-on-3 Spring Youth Hockey League.
Play will be on Thursday evenings 6-9 p.m. March 29 through May 10. Start times will be determined by the number of participants per division Mites through Bantam and 10U through 16U.

The Stickin Around Jamboree Tournament for those ages 3 to 11 will be held on April 7 at Riverside Arena. Deadline to sign up is March 23. There will be three divisions: advanced, intermediate and rookie. There will be three, 10-minute periods, 3-on-3 hockey and a shoot-out to end each game. Three games will be played. The cost is $15 per player and players will be split into teams of six to eight players. You can sign up online at cityofapr.maxgalaxy.net or from the city web page.
Dome baseball
Dome baseball for kids ages 7 to 12 begins in April with a deadline to sign up is March 23.
Students who are 7 to 9-years-old will play on Monday nights beginning April 2 through April 30 and those 10 to 12-years-old will play on Tuesday nights April 3 through May 1. Games times are between 6-8 p.m. Teams will consist of 10 to 12 players with a minimum of four teams per age division. The cost for the pitching machine league is $60 per participant. The program combines individual skill development with live game experience.

Austin Bruins: Saturday is Pacelli Night when the Bruins host Brookings. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
