In the vaudeville-style variety show “The Banjo Hour,” Captain Gravitone is a philosopher, physicist and super-hero of the new millennia. With his String Theory Orchestra, Gravitone explores the universe of music, magic and comedy.
Captain Gravitone has been blasting around Minnesota on a quest for the perfect jam filled with original roots music. The Banjo Hour jam is influenced by jazz, gypsy, tango, Irish, folk, blues, bluegrass and rock and sprinkled with live comedy.
When Captain Gravitone touches down at the Historic Paramount Theatre on Friday, April 6, the jam will also feature Galactic Cowboy Orchestra and Austin’s most-missed pianist, Peter Jacobs.
Still wondering what this show is all about? Expect live music that pushes boundaries, guided by the host comedian Michael Callahan. Expect banjo music, stories about the circus and scratching your head while you tap your toes.
Keep in mind Captain Gravitone’s ultimate goal, “If you find the correct harmonic balance, you can transport yourself in space and time to a parallel dimension.”
Thanks to the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund and KMSU Mankato for supporting the Banjo Hour with Captain Gravitone and his String Theory Orchestra. It will be one strange trip and we hope you can join us. Craft beer cash bar supported by Bent Paddle Brewery will be available.
Thanks also to Paramount spring season sponsors Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and the Edward Jones Offices of Kristine Jorgenson, Thad Kusick, Greg Bird, Jaclyn Bird.
