Time to start thinking about setting up co-ed and men’s softball teams

It is time for the adult softball co-ed and men’s leagues to get their teams together.
The registration deadline is Monday, April 16 at our office.
Co-ed league plays on Tuesday nights and will begin on May 1 and men’s league plays on Wednesday nights beginning May 2. Both leagues play 12 weeks. Men’s league will have the option again to play double header games. Information was mailed out to last year’s managers. Others may call our office to receive information, check the city web page or find the info out on our Facebook page.
Other adult leagues include kickball and sand volleyball. Kickball league is played on Thursday evening with a registration deadline of April 27. Watch for more information. Sand volleyball league is played on Monday evenings and deadline to sign up is May 4. League begins May 14. Please call our office if you are interested in more information and watch Facebook as well.
Summer employment
It is time to fill out those summer employment applications. You can find the city seasonal application on the city website, print it off, fill it out and drop it off or stop in and pick an application up.
We are looking for lifeguards, inside workers, summer recreation coaches, concession workers, maintenance workers and flower waterers. This year we are also in need of pool management staff. If you are interested please give us a call at 1-507-433-1881.
Those interested in becoming a lifeguard can sign up for class at the YMCA, www.ymca-austin.org , click on Y-programs, Aquatics, lifeguard and CPR training for information. Class is scheduled for March 23-25, must register by March 15. You must be 16 or older.
Summer brochure
Our Summer Program brochure will be coming home in bookbags on March 23 so you can start planning your summer activities.
Online registration will open on April 1 for the Park and Rec programs and April 2 for the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center Programs.
We would like to invite you to set up your online account. This will allow you to register for Park & Recreation and Nature Center programs.
Currently you may sign up for the youth volleyball camp and archery. You will also be able to request facility rentals for your private events. The link is at www.ci.austin.mn.us.
You can currently sign up on line for the following: 3-on-3 spring youth hockey, dome baseball ages 7 to 12, The Stickin Around Jamboree hockey tournament ages 3 to 11.
Summer programs will show on ine March 23 and you can begin to register on April 1.
Nature center
Have you ever given it a thought to join the Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center?
