Active shooter training Friday at government center

Staff at the Mower County Government Center will be led through a mini-training on an active shooter incident on Friday.
As a result, the center will be closed from 8-8:30 a.m., said County Coordinator Craig Oscarson. Those in the vicinity may hear what sounds like shots being fired, which will actually be a deputy shooting blanks.
Being able to hear a weapon being discharged is part of the training, and office areas that may not be able to hear the sounds will be documented and addressed, Oscarson said.
A similar training was held at the Justice Center some time ago, he said.
The center will reopen for regular business at 8:30 a.m.
