Gordon W. Kuiper, 79, of rural Dexter, Minnesota, died on Thursday, March 19, 2018, of natural causes at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.
Gordon William Kuiper was born on June 8, 1938, in Pleasant Valley Township, Mower County, Minnesota, to Peter and Dora (Bushman) Kuiper. He grew up on the family farm, attended rural school and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1956. He was a lifelong farmer who lived on the Kuiper Family farmstead until failing health caused him to move to Grand Meadow Health Care Center in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, where he resided the past few months. He was a past member of the Lutheran Church. Gordon was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and canning, traveling, mowing and taking care of his farm equipment and listening to old time country music on the radio.
Gordon is survived by his nephew, Lester (Karen) Yeadon of Washburn, Wisconsin; and his neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence Kuiper and Gladys Yeadon; a nephew, Glen Yeadon; and three brothers, Ralph Kuiper, Peter “Bud” Kuiper and Alfred Kuiper.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, Minnesota, with the Rev. David Hoot officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
