Green named to National School Boards Association

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Austin School Board member and Minnesota School Boards Association President Kathy Green was elected as the NSBA Central Region representative Friday and will sit on the National Association of School Boards Association board of directors.
Green is a contingency candidate to fulfill the vacancy left by Charles Wilson of Ohio, who was elected NSBA secretary-treasurer.
Her term will be 2018-2020. She will represent the Central Region on a 26-member board, starting her job on Monday, April 9.
Green has served on the Austin School Board since 2000, serving as clerk, treasurer, vice chairwoman and chairwoman of the board. Her current term expires in December.
She has served on the MSBA Board of Directors since 2010, representing board members from District 1 (southeast Minnesota.) In that time, she has served on the Congressional Delegation Committee; been a part of the Cities, Counties, School Boards and Townships collaboration group; served on MSBA’s Executive Committee in 2014 and 2015 and also served on the Minnesota School Boards Association Insurance Trust and the All-State School Board Committee.
Green graduated from Minneapolis Public Schools, attended Hamline University, the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, receiving her hygienist graduate dental hygiene degree, as well as a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.
