Letter: Thank-you to commission, city council

We want to thank the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council for listening to the Fourth St. NW area residents and voting to deny rezoning the residential property at 1400 Fourth St. NW.
While Gold Cross believes this property is the perfect location to build an ambulance service, area residents believe it would increase the traffic and congestion that already presents hazards to public safety, both pedestrians and drivers.
In order to best benefit all residents of Austin, the ambulance service should be more centrally located within the city. There is B-2 Community Use and Commercial properties available all over Austin that would not require cutting into residential property zones.
Thank you to all who attended the meetings and making your voice heard. This is how democracy works best!
