Charles Wesley Jones, 38, of Austin was charged on Thursday in Mower County District Court with felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct-multiple acts with a victim under 16 and two counts of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13 and an actor more than 36 months older.
According to the court complaint, Jones sexually assaulted a boy under the age of 13 one night last week. The alleged victim told police that Jones had sexually assaulted him a few times before and that he did not like it when Jones did it.
Police found out about the abuse from a friend on April 8, according to the complaint. Police spoke to Jones, who denied any abuse, though he verified he had been with the victim at the time of the most recent alleged assault. When asked certain questions, Jones was allegedly evasive. He allegedly said he had been accused of touching other children before and that he was a victim of sexual abuse.
A review of Jones’s criminal history shows prior convictions for theft, violating a domestic abuse order for protection and knowingly violating predatory offender registration requirements.
He will appear in court again on April 26.
