Three Mower County Sheriff’s deputies were recognized for their 2017 DWI enforcement efforts at the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Statewide Recognition Awards on Wednesday at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.
Deputies Tyler Wilson and Tom Brogan were recognized on the bronze level for law enforcement agents who made between 25 and 49 DWI arrests in a year.
Wilson, who joined the Mower County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 23, made many of his arrests while serving in the Albert Lea Police Department.
Deputy Jamie Meyer was recognized in the silver level for law enforcement agents who made between 50 and 99 DWI arrests in a year.
“(Having three deputies recognized) is not typical,” said Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi. “That we had so many drunk drivers is concerning, but we have good deputies doing good work.”
The Mower County Board of Commissioners recognized Meyer, Brogan, and Wilson in February after they placed within the top 65 out of the 4,391 law enforcement agents that processed DWI arrests in Minnesota in 2017.
