Temperatures could hit the 50s by the middle of next week

Although a winter storm has dumped more snow on Mower County with another to follow, the forecast for late next week may be indicative that spring weather is almost here.

Snow fell throughout the day Tuesday, dumping approximately six to seven inches on Mower County before stopping around midnight Wednesday. The forecast calls for a sunny, dry and cool Wednesday afternoon with a high of about 30.

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Rod Swerman, Mower County may have to endure some more snow next week before temperatures start to stay above freezing.

“Late Sunday night and early Monday morning looks like it will be cold enough for snow, but where is the big ‘if,’” he said.

By the middle of next week, Swerman said the forecast shows that temperatures will be going up, reaching highs in the upper 50s and lows that are above freezing.
