Nine teams from Mower County 4-H competed in the Minnesota State 4-H Project Bowl, with one team qualifying for a trip to national competition.
The Senior General Livestock team, the “Double Aughts,” of members Grace Bergstrom, Kristine Schechinger, Colton Ivers, Michael Carroll and Ashley Conradt, coached by Bob Balgeman, qualified for the contest to be held in Louisville, Ky.
Hundreds of 4-H youth gathered for the second largest 4-H event of the year. Patterned after the TV show, “College Bowl,” the event challenges teams of three to six youth and tests their knowledge of dairy, dog, general livestock, horse, poultry, rabbit and wildlife project areas.
