Stephen H. Golombowski, 87, of Adams, Minnesota, died at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Stephen was born April 18, 1931, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Stephen and Mary (Muzykiewicz) Golombowski. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. Steve married Colette Novak on Oct. 27, 1956, in Michigan City. They farmed and raised their nine children in Westville, Indiana, Brodhead, Wisconsin, and the Johnsburg, Minnesota, area. In addition to farming, he also worked as a hail insurance adjustor and was a traveling salesman for TCM of Stacyville, Iowa.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and the Adams American Legion. Steve loved watching his kids’ and grandkids’ activities. He enjoyed road trips, family vacations and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jay Haraldson; and his son-in-law, Michael Finbraaten.
Steve is survived by his wife, Colette Golombowski, Adams; children, Cathy (Kurt) Hurst, Madison, Wisconsin, Maureen (Edward) Noterman, Adams, Laura (Mark) Schaefer, Taopi, Minnesota, Sharon (Joel) Haraldson, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Valerie (Al) Rieke, Rochester, Minnesota, Suzanne Finbraaten, Adams, Steven (Kara) Golombowski, Adams, Daniel (Sandi) Golombowski, Onamia, Minnesota, and David Golombowski, Adams; grandchildren, Chelsea Hurst, Connor Hurst, Katherine Noterman, Anna Noterman, Ella Noterman, Samuel Noterman, Jared (Katie) Schaefer, Mitchell Schaefer, Lucas Schaefer, Paul Schaefer, Hannah Haraldson, Jack Haraldson, Jason Rieke, Jenna Rieke, Nicholas Finbraaten, Meg Finbraaten, Roy Golombowski, McKayla Golombowski, Ashley Golombowski, Alyssa Golombowski, Jakob Golombowski, Joshua Golombowski, Ava Golombowski, Reese Golombowski and Bristol Golombowski; and great-granddaughter, Leilee Golombowski.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 23, at the Adams Funeral Home and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the Johnsburg Cemetery with Adams American Legion Post in charge of military rites.
