Staff members at Austin High School are looking into what could have been a potentially violent situation after a knife was found in a school trash can.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, high school staff informed the school resources officer about a potential fight on Friday on the third floor of the school. It was believed that one of the participants had a folding knife.
The officer went to the third floor and did not see anyone fighting; however, a folding knife was recovered from a trash can, according to Krueger.
Five participants have been identified; one 15-year-old and four students aged 16 and 17. The 15-year-old allegedly brought the knife, according to Krueger.
The school is still investigating the incident.
