Bruins honored with year-end awards

The Austin Bruins are racking up some postseason awards this week.
Forward Travis Kothenbeutel was named first team All-NAHL, Central Division Forward of the Year and Most Valuable Player, Alex Schilling was named Central Division Goaltender of the Year, Andy Willis was named to the Central Division All-Rookie second team, and head coach Steve Howard was named Central Division Coach of the Year.
Kothenbeutel, a Nebraska-Omaha commit, is Austin’s all-time leading scorer and he had 24 goals and 43 assists this season.
Schilling, an Air Force commit, allowed 2.35 goals per game and he won 22 games this season.
Howard, who is in his first year at the helm, led the Bruins to their sixth Central Division finals in the franchise’s eighth year.
Willis scored 12 goals and he had 28 assists this season.
The Bruins will have to win three straight games to get back to the Robertson Cup as they will play game three of the NAHL Central Division Finals at Minot at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
