CRWD, SWCD events postponed

Two upcoming community events in Mower County are being postponed due to the late spring and recent soggy weather.

A community river cleanup planned by the Cedar River Watershed District for this Saturday, May 19, with the Conservation Corps of Minnesota has been canceled because the crew needs to focus on controlled conservation burns due to the late spring. CRWD staff is working with Conservation Corps on rescheduling the event hopefully for mid-July.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the cleanup or being part of CRWD’s Adopt-A-River initiative can contact CRWD outreach coordinator Tim Ruzek at 507-460-4577 or tim.ruzek@mowerswcd.org. Online sign-up can be found at www.allforgood.org/projects/1JlnVyQz

Mower Soil and Water Conservation District is also postponing its Soil Health Field Day planned for Thursday, May 31, due to the late planting for many area farmers. SWCD is looking to offer a similar event focused on soil health and cover crops in September or October.
