Della J. Chinander, 103, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three loving daughters, on Saturday morning, May 12, 2018, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.
Della Johanna Deden was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Marietta (Mehrkens) Deden. She attended school in Hay Creek, Minnesota. On June 26, 1937, Della was united in marriage to Oris Chinander in Red Wing. Della was a long-time member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin and was an active member of the Hoe & Grow Garden Club for many years. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, playing cards and was an excellent cook. Oris died in 1977.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary (Robert) Horejsh of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, Suzanne (Richard) Kraft of Lafayette, Colorado, and Patricia (William) Schmidt of Austin; eight grandchildren, Douglas Horejsh, Christy Borud, Derek Horejsh, Timothy Kraft, Annie Kraft, Laura Qvale, Daniel Schmidt and Megan Larson; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Josh Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
