Howard K. Classon, age 86 of Rose Creek, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday morning, May 26, 2018, at Mayo Health System St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

Howard was born July 14, 1931, in rural Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Verdell and Cora Alice (Sheely) Classon. He attended school in Granada, Minnesota.

Howard served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. On Feb. 8, 1953, Howard was united in marriage to Alla Cook at the Crane Community Chapel in Austin, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born. The couple was married over 65 years. Howard was a long-time member of Crane Chapel in Austin.

He was a farmer all his life.  He enjoyed farming, fishing, watching sports — especially the Minnesota Twins — family get togethers and he took great pride in his grandchildren and his only great grandson.

Survivors include his wife Alla Classon of Rose Creek; his five children: Donald Classon of Rose Creek, Debra Cooper of Rochester, Keith Classon of Rose Creek, Kathy (Kevin) Eissinger of Lyle, Minnesota and Donna Classon of Lansing, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Justin, Marcus, Mariah, Noah and Isaac; and a  great-grand Hudson; a sister, Verna (Dennis) Johnson and a brother, Gary (Eileen) Classon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arvid Classon

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Crane Community Chapel with Pastor Dale Christiansen, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, at Crane Community Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at Crane Chapel on Wednesday. Interment will be at Rose Creek Enterprise Cemetery in Austin with military rites performed by Adams American Legion Post  No. 146. Memorials to donor’s choice.
