Incumbent Jeanne Poppe filed Tuesday for another term as state representative for District 27B, a seat she has held since being elected in 2004.
Poppe received unanimous support to seek her eighth term at the DFL endorsing convention on May 6.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the state representative for District 27B, and to be an advocate for our region at the state level,” Poppe said in a Tuesday press release. “As a legislator, I consistently take a district-first approach, supporting legislation that strengthens our communities, families, farmers, and small businesses.”
“Minnesotans want legislators who work to find common ground, who value problem-solving, and who look past labels,” she continued. “Over the past 14 years I have proven my ability to reach beyond party lines and get the job done. I hope to once again receive the support of my constituents in November’s election.”
In her seven terms as state representative, Poppe has been named the Minnesota Milk Legislator of the Year (2013), received an Honorary State FFA Degree (2015), and been named Outstanding Ag Mentor from Minnesota Agri Women (2017). Poppe is currently Minority Lead on the Agriculture Finance Committee and also serves on the Agriculture Policy, Capital Investment, and Ways and Means Committees. She previously served as the chair of the Agriculture Policy Committee.
Minnnesota House District 27B includes most of Mower County, London Township in Freeborn County and Vernon Township in Dodge County.
