Austin High School students Isabel Leuer and Halie Retterath have been named Rotary Students of the Month for May.
Leuer is a member of both National Honor Society and Link Crew, has received all-conference honors, been named to the Scholar Athlete Honor Roll, and has won the Tri-Athlete Award for her participation in soccer, gymnastics, and track.
“My educational experience so far is something I am always going to look back on and be thankful for because of all the life skills I’ve learned throughout the years,” she said.
Her plans include attending the University of Minnesota Duluth to possibly major in human resources management.
Retterath is also involved in both NHS and Link Crew, and is a softball team captain who has been named to the All-State Academic Softball Team and has received both all-conference honors in softball and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.
“I have been provided with so many opportunities within my education so far,” she said. “I am grateful for the education I have received and for all that comes with it.”
Her future plans include attending the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire to study accounting.
Each month the Austin Rotary, in conjunction with Austin Public Schools, selects two students who excel in academics, leadership, and/or activities.
