Zachary Pierre Moore, 35, of Austin was charged on Monday in Mower County District Court with felony first-degree criminal damage to property-value reduced over $1,000 and misdemeanor domestic assault.
According to court documents, police were dispatched at 11 p.m. on Friday to a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of 11th Street Northwest. They met with a woman who said that Moore had just left the residence. She said she and Moore had been in an argument about her texting another man and that he started destroying her property. He allegedly dumped grease onto the kitchen floor, broke various baby items, flipped over a couch, broke a lamp, broke two televisions, ripped the screen door, threw flour on her car and punched a hole in the wall. The damage was estimated at over $1,000.
She also said he put his hand around her throat and threatened to strike her, according to court documents.
Officers found Moore walking north on 11th Street Northwest. He allegedly told officers he and the woman had an argument in Rochester and she threw a drink on him. The documents state he initially denied going into the house when they returned from Rochester or knowing why the property had been damaged, then said he had been in the house, but left because he didn’t want to “deal with her.” He denied damaging the property.
Moore was arrested and taken to the Mower County Jail, where a preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol concentration as 0.20 percent, according to the court document.
Moore will appear in court again on May 31.
