Area students are getting the opportunity to experience what the Cedar River has to offer up close and personal this week.

Starting Tuesday, students were taken out on the Cedar River by guides with the Wilderness Inquiry’s Canoemobile, a program that shuttles canoes to locations throughout the state for the purpose of introducing people to canoeing.

Young paddlers, starting with Banfield Elementary Tuesday morning, were taken out on the water by the guides just above the Ramsey Dam, where they paddled north toward the old railroad trestle.
