Cotillion Dance Club
May 1 brought 36 cotillion members to the Austin Country Club a very rainy night for an evening of fun.
Dinner was served by a great staff and dancing was to Steve Krob and Reminisce with the addition of Barry Rush.
Committee chair was Otto and Betty Volkert with Ron and Alice Anderson; Bill and Sally Phillips helping. Out of town guests were Sue Welch, Rich Golish, Mike Hyland and Susan Kaul.
The next dinner dance will be June 5 with the Austin Big Band playing. Call Marge Mierach at 433-1590 if interested.
The Brownsdale Study Club
The Brownsdale Study Club met April 18 on a very snowy day at the home of Beryl Sprung.
Jane Hartson, Vice President, in the absence of president Shelley Vogel, opened up the meeting with the reading of the collect. Secretary and treasurers reports were given. Eight members answered roll call to, “How many grandchildren do you have?”
There was no new business.
The city-wide rummage sales were held in Brownsdale last Saturday, that also included a breakfast by the Brownsdale Fire Department.
There is a blood drive from 2-7 p.m. on May 22 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. IBI Data will again promote the drive by giving a $20 gas card to the lucky donor.
Meeting was adjourned.
Sharon Willis gave the outside reading, “60 things older women want younger women to know.”
The author Margaret Manning decided to discuss this experience with the women in the book, “Sixty and Me Community.” She asked them to share one piece of advice that they would give to women half their age. Their advice was honest and reflected the wisdom that they wished they’d had in their 30s.
LaVonne Skov gave the main topic which was good following of Sharon’s topic: “Losing Weight May Lengthen Your Life.” Making practical changes and setting realistic goals will help you shed pounds and improve your health.
Beryl served a delicious brownie and ice cream desert.

Four tables played on Wednesday, May 2.
First, Larry Crowe and Jim Fisher; second, Loren Cleland and Bud Higgins; third, Joyce Crowe and Milie Seiver; fourth, Eunice Michaelis and Dave Ring.
