Bobbi Jo Schlichter, 32, of Mapleview was charged on Thursday in Mower County District Court with felony storing methamphetamine paraphernalia in the presence of a child and gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI-under the influence of a controlled substance.
According to the court complaint, a Mower County Deputy stopped Schlichter at about 9:42 p.m. on Wednesday in the 18000 block of 540th Avenue after observing her vehicle drifting over the fog line and center line. When he spoke to Schlichter, she allegedly spoke rapidly, had trouble completing her sentences and her pupils did not react to the light. The deputy noticed that a child was in the back seat.
The deputy then administered several field sobriety tests, which Schlichter failed, according to the complaint. She denied using any illegal drugs.
The deputy searched the car and found four grams of marijuana, two drug pipes and a small straw that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint. A ride was arranged for the child and Schlichter was taken to Mower County Jail, where she provided a blood sample that was sent to Bureau of Criminal Apprehension laboratory for analysis. She allegedly told the deputy she smoked marijuana regularly and had “snorted” methamphetamine within the past week.
A review of Schlichter’s criminal record shows prior convictions for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of an injury accident and criminal vehicular injury.
Schlichter will appear in court again on May 17.
