Child hospitalized from horse kick

A 4-year-old male was hospitalized after being kicked in the head by a horse Thursday night.
According to Mower County Sergeant Investigator Steven Sandvik, deputies were called at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday for medical assistance at a residence in the 27000 block of 790th Avenue in rural Racine. The child’s parents said he had been kicked in the head by a horse. Deputies observed a four-inch laceration on the child’s head.
Grand Meadow Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the child to Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.
Sandvik said the report did not indicate the child’s condition.
