Austin Police Detective Mark Haider retired on Wednesday after 33 ½ years with the Austin Police Department.
Haider declined to speak with the media, but Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger had high praise for him.
“Mark has always had the ‘go get ‘em’ attitude with his work performance,” he said. “He has always been on top of things; he’s got a lot of drive and desire.”
Krueger said that Haider worked his way up to sergeant before making detective. During his time with the APD, Haider was responsible for handling many cases involving predatory offenders.
“He worked tirelessly and his effort never waned,” Krueger said. “He always was anxious to get his new caseload.”
“He will definitely be missed,” Krueger added. “He’s taking a lot of valuable experience and knowledge with him. I wish the very best for him and his family.”
