The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, county sheriff’s offices and other public safety agencies will step up patrols for intoxicated boaters this weekend as part of Operation Dry Water.
Operation Dry Water is a national campaign aimed at deterring drinking and boating and will take place June 29-July 1.
Since the launch of Operation Dry Water in 2009, the number of boating fatalities with alcohol named as a contributing factor has decreased in the United States. Despite that decline, alcohol use continues to be the leading known contributing factor in recreational boating deaths in the U.S.
