ST. PAUL — Lyle-Pacelli’s Kristi Fett put an end to her career with the Athletics as she threw the shot put for the final time at the Minnesota Class A State Track and Field Meet in Hamline University Saturday.

Fett, who will play basketball at Division II Minnesota State University next season, finished in 14th place with a distance of 36 feet, .25 inches. Her longest throw was he first throw of the day.

It was intimidating at first, but I think it was a really great experience to come here,” Fett said. “On my second throw I didn’t get a real good grip, the first one was nerves and the last one I didn’t get it all together, but I’m happy I got here.”

It was the final event for Fett in an LP uniform and she said it’s going to be tough for her not to be an Athletic anymore when she becomes a Maverick next season.

“I try not to think about it. But it’s hard to say goodbye,” Fett said. “[Track] was the last thing keeping me tied to Lyle as a High Schooler. It’s hard to let it go when it’s been my life for the past 14 years.”

Beth-el Alagarin of Pierz won the shot put with a distance of 44-1.25.
