The threat of rain couldn’t keep some excited visitors away on Monday as the Austin Municipal Pool officially opened for the 2018 Summer Season.

Making their debut with the opening were two new water slides; a 158-foot curly slide and a 60-foot drop slide.

The slides were made possible thanks to a grant from the Hormel Foundation.

Like the previous slides, visitors must be at least four feet tall to ride them.

“That is the slide recommendations from the manufacturer because you’re jumping into 3 ½ feet of water,” said Austin Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director Kim Underwood.
