Robert L. Barclay, 91, of Austin, Minnesota, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Robert Leonard Barclay was born June 20, 1926, in Lansing Township, Minnesota, to Emanuel and Lila (Larson) Barclay. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. On March 10, 1951, he married Alvina Bos at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Austin. Bob worked for Hormel Foods for over 38 years.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Olaf B. Damm VFW Post 1216 and Austin American Legion Post 91.

An avid Minnesota Twins fan, Bob loved going to games and watching them on television. He enjoyed fishing up north with his grandkids, playing Bingo, watching John Wayne movies, playing cards, and traveling with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Lila Barclay; wife, Alvina in 2016; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milo “Mike” and Ruby Barclay and Richard “Dick” and Norma Barclay; and brother-in-law, Max Guritz.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert “Bobby” (Rose) Barclay, Tower, Minnesota, and Gary (Donna) Barclay, Austin; daughter, Kathy (Sid) Leiding, Mankato, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kay, Amy, Jessica, Mary, Jeremy, Nicole and Erik; five great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Guritz, Austin; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. James Groleau officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery with Olaf B. Damm VFW Post 1216 and Austin American Legion Post 91 in charge of military rites. Honorary bearers will be Kay Jones, Amy Barclay, Mary Barclay and Rodney Bos. Casket bearers will be Jessica Brown, Jeremy Stark, Nicole Donahue, Erik Barclay, Janet Olson and Ben Eirikson.
