Wayne Clyde Rubin, 69 of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.
He was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Ernest and Nora (Nie) Rubin. Wayne grew up in Mantorville, Minnesota, and attended school at Mantorville High School. He traveled to many states, including Bakersfield, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where it was warm. While he was traveling, Wayne had various jobs as a laborer throughout the years. After traveling all those years, he finally made Austin his home in 2014. Wayne loved his friend and companion, Whiskers the cat, watching scary movies, and listening to rock and roll music. He also enjoyed fishing and going to the Hormel Nature Center in Austin. Wayne will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Jessica) Hill of Austin; daughters, Kari (Warren) Miner of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, and Darcy; sister, Gloria (Tony) Drewes of Rochester; three grandchildren, Alex, Amara and Meghan; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nora Rubin; and two brothers, Ernest Rubin Jr. and Donald Rubin Sr.
There will be a private family celebration of life held at the Eagles Club in Rochester at a later date. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
