Lovejoy

Tevin Michael Lovejoy, 21, of Austin was charged on Tuesday in Mower County District Court with felony terroristic threats, felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault.

According to the court complaint, officers were dispatched on Jan. 3 to a residence in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue Southeast. A woman said that Lovejoy was assaulting a relative. When officers arrived, Lovejoy had left the residence.

The alleged victim reported that Lovejoy had come to the residence to get some truck keys, the complaint said. She said he wanted to take an 8 month-old child with him, but she refused. She alleged he punched the walls, then pushed her against the wall and started strangling her, making her feel like she was going to “pass out.” He then allegedly pushed her onto the couch and started strangling her again, asking, “You want me to hit you?”

The complaint also states that Lovejoy threatened to kill the woman’s relatives.

A review of Lovejoy’s criminal history shows prior convictions for disorderly conduct and intentional damage to property.

Lovejoy will appear in court again on Aug. 6.
